Candle Care

Maintenance is needed to prolong your candle's life and ensure a clean burn. Please follow these steps to ensure you get the most out of your Wick Wish candle:

After the initial burn, your wick should be trimmed before *every* use. This is very important. Maintaining a wick that is a) free of mushrooms (small sooty offshoots), and b) at the proper length, will ensure you get the strongest scent throw from your candle and reduce soot build up. Cotton wicks should be trimmed to approximately 1/4", and woods wicks to 1/8". If the wick becomes too large or sooting occurs, extinguish the flame, allow to cool, and trim the wick before relighting.

Allow the melted wax to reach the edges of the jar with each burn to prevent tunneling and prolong the life of your candle.

Never burn for more than 3-4 hours at a time. Burning your candle for longer than 4 hours at a time can lead to sooting, an oversized or out of control flame, or an overheated jar.
